Dr. Smita Shrivastav

Director, Bharat Mahotsav

Inspired by Make in India, Smita Shrivastav developed the idea for the Confluence initiative to bridge the gap between art, artisans and everyday people. Her vision was to make art more accessible, meaningful and distinctive while preserving India's rich artistic and cultural heritage.

The initiative supports industries in establishing manufacturing bases in India, creating local employment and building support ecosystems that empower small businesses.

As a social entrepreneur, Smita remains committed to seizing every opportunity that can improve an artisan's life — driven by the belief that connecting people with ethnic handicrafts can help transform artisans' lives, one artisan at a time.
